Background Information on Simon Siounis, Director of Shogai Imports
Simon entered the racing of mini bikes and motocross bikes at the age of 7. Simon raced for approximately 6 years as a junior and completed 4 Steven Gall and Craig Dack motocross schools as well as other junior motocross schools during that time. Simon then rode on and off during his teenage years until he was old enough to obtain an Australian motorcycle road license. Once that time came there was no stopping him, Simon had to have a CBR and R1 road bike to get around on. During these years Simon also started a car club with the member base reaching 35 members across the state. The club was known as "Team Shogai". It was a club that competed at all the major modified car shows and had great success with its members and their cars.
During this time Simon wanted to obtain his Senior National Race Licence in order to compete nationally. Since obtaining his "SNRL", Simon has raced motorcycles in the "SAASC" (Shell Advance Australian Superbike Championship) Supersport, Formula Xtreme, Pro Twins, 6 Hour endurance categories for a number of years traveling all over Australia.
Simon started working for a motorcycle store which was part of a large network of retail motorcycle outlets in Australia, that sell brand new Harley Davidson's, Ducati's, Honda's & Yamaha's. Simon was employed there as a salesman and within a year was managing the Honda & Yamaha section. Simon was then promoted to a position in the company's head office as their "Imported Product Manager" for 9 brands that the company solely distributed across Australia. The 9 brands Simon was in charge of were items ranging from motocross clothing, boots, helmets, tie downs, sticker kits, oversized brake kits and accessories to road going gear such as leather suits in both 1 and 2 piece, gloves, wet weather clothing (jackets, pants, gloves, boots, etc...), helmets, bootsand bike alarms.
During the next few years, Simon succeeded in this challenging role in making the right decisions for purchasing, pricing, sponsorship, advertising and marketing for these 9 brands. Results started to show the level of commitment he had invested in these 9 brands, but it unfortunately almost went un-noticed! After having a short break from the industry, Simon realised that his passion lied with all aspects of motorcycling and wanted to get back into the field. It was then time for Simon to leave and start something for himself, thus the birth of Shogai Imports...
The word Shogai is a Japanese word and when directly translated means Danger/Hazard! The "Shogai Symbol" originates from the worldwide symbol for danger or hazardous material!
